The company was founded in 1912 in the Odenwald by master toolmaker Jakob Maul and has been owner-managed ever since, now in its fourth generation. MAUL is a founding member of the initiative "Location Germany - Responsibility for the Future". As part of this initiative, seven medium-sized German companies in the office sector have jointly committed themselves to protecting their location. The core objectives are the preservation of jobs and the creation of training places.
In addition, the companies have undertaken to invest in the location, to pay taxes, to produce brand quality, and to act ecologically. Small and medium-sized enterprises form the backbone of the Germany's economy and society, whose future is secured by sustainable production, trade, and management in Germany.
At MAUL, environmental protection is already deeply anchored in our thinking and actions due to our home in the middle of the countryside. Environmental issues have always been taken into account as part of the day-to-day running of our company and our corporate policy decisions, for example. Resource-saving actions throughout the entire product life cycle are a matter of course for us. Consistently pursuing sustainability goals and establishing new, more sustainable solutions in all areas of daily work is a matter that is close to the hearts of our workforce.
Since August 2021, MAUL has been successfully certified in line with the international environmental management standard ISO 14001. This is a further building block in our ecologically oriented corporate policy. The aim of ISO 14001:2015 is to permanently improve the company's environmental performance and to achieve responsible use of resources. The standard ensures, among other things, that continuous efforts are made to reduce energy consumption, material use, and waste volumes.
Social responsibility
We focus on personal responsibility, qualification, respect, and transparency. Concern for our workforce has been deeply embedded in MAUL since 1912. Ecological responsibility
MAUL pursues strict sustainability goals. For example, we achieved a reduction of 45% in energy consumption through new plastic injection moulding machines, and waste generated during production was largely returned to the production cycle. Products made from recycled materials or with energy-saving electronics protect the environment. Changing requirements due to digitalisation and internationalisation are among the major challenges that every company has to face. At MAUL, digitisation has been declared as the goal of all MAUL employees. Processes are digitalised, and modern tools and software facilitate communication and everyday life.
